King Heavy "King Heavy" Album Review

*A little bit shorter of a review today, was a bit pressed on time*

This work is DOOMED and King Heavy will lead us with their wizardly ways. This band out of Chile will lead us straight to hell with their haunting tunes, Doomy feel and wizard front man. Okay I'm done with that, King Heavy are a Traditional Doom Metal band out of Chile who are releasing their splendid debut album and are ready to pick up where Black Sabbath stopped.

This album has a lot of aspects to it, the vocals are able to change constantly between a darker, heavier, nearly growl style, a Christopher Lee Symphonic spoken word style and a Cathedral high Doomy style. The album opens making sure you know that the vocalist is a gargoyle with "La Gargola," through the song you get to really test the waters of this band, the song alternates between each of our vocal style as well as clean playing, Black Sabbath style instrumental and fast paced instrumentals that remind me of some of the quicker songs by The Sword.

I want to skip right ahead to "He Who Spoke In Tongues" which is the last and longest song taking Doom Metal into account the most of all the tracks on this album. The album starts with a constant riff, slow, heavy, high inducing. After about a minute the song kicks up a gear, speeds up a little and the riff begins to change as the vocals take you on a journey to meet Satan himself. The chorus of this song is probably one of the strongest sections on this album, the riff will get lodged in your head whether you like it or not. Once the solo comes in the songs pace slows back down giving the song a breath of air and a bit more depth to it, following the solo and another chorus the song drops back into first gear and slows before hitting a point where it can't decide if it wants to go fast or not. It tries, then it slows, then it tries, then it slows. Eventually, after 11 and a half minutes the song rings out and that's the end, you're back to bring told that you're being sang to by a gargolye.

This is King Heavy, a band fronted by a wizard looking gargoyle. What more do you need to be convinced to buy this album? It's Traditional Doomy goodness that you should buy!!

75/100
